Boston Heats Up With A New Pitch: Pedro Salsa It’s been a red-hot summer in Bean Town. And don’t expect to cool off this fall either. Red Sox pitcher Pedro Martinez will heat up the baseball field with the introduction of his new pitch. Listen as the fans go wild over PEEEDDRROOO SALLLSSAAA! One year after the introduction of Flutie Flakes, Woolf Associates has again teamed up with Pittsburgh-based PLB Sports, Inc. to create a brand new southwest black bean & corn salsa carrying Pedro Martinez’ name and likeness. Pedro Salsa slid into area stores the week of September 20th, and will be available in mild, medium and hot profiles. “We have had great success with [Doug] Flutie Flakes and [Tom] Glavine Marinara Sauce in the last year and wanted to do something with a Boston-based athlete,” stated Kim Parsons Zayotti, Woolf Associates Assistant Director of Athlete Marketing. “Pedro Martinez was an obvious choice and salsa was a nice fit with his personality and background.” Both PLB Sports and the Red Sox all star pitcher will be donating portions of the profits to the Pedro J. Martinez & Brothers Foundation, an organization established to serve other non-profit organizations in Boston and the Dominican Republic through financial grants. Its focus is to raise over one million dollars for young children, health care and education in these areas. And this goal can be achieved through the sale of Pedro Salsa.
