World Championship Crunch To Feature Jerome Bettis PITTSBURGH – Super Bowl Champion Steeler Jerome Bettis will be featured on a new limited edition cereal, Bettis World Championship Crunch, PLB Sports announced today. Pittsburgh-based PLB has reached an agreement with Bettis to appear on the 20 oz. black and gold collector’s box of frosted corn flakes, which will feature likenesses of the popular running back who helped the Steelers to win their fifth Super Bowl. A limited run of approximately 100,000 boxes of Bettis World Championship Crunch will be produced honoring the Steeler player fondly known as “The Bus.” The commemorative cereal will be ready to ship in about six weeks and will be available locally in the Pittsburgh region and via the internet at www.plbsports.com. Bettis World Championship Crunch pays tribute to the outgoing player who announced after the Super Bowl in his hometown of Detroit that it would be the “last stop” for The Bus. He will retire as a champion after helping Pittsburgh win “one for the thumb.” The Bettis World Championship Crunch cereal box also will feature information about The Bus Stops Here Foundation, a charity the football star founded in 1990 to help underprivileged children in America’s inner cities like where he grew up. The mission is to improve the overall quality of life by offering opportunities to help them succeed. Ty Ballou, president of PLB Sports, said Bettis World Champion Crunch isn’t the first product the company has done with the Steeler player. “The Bus” actually was the first Steeler under contract for PLB Sports back in 1996. “We had tremendous success with Bus BBQ, salsa and pickles,” said Ballou. “We couldn’t think of a better and more deserving player to pick than No. 36 to feature on his own cereal, Bettis World Championship Crunch,” he said. “PLB Sports is extremely proud to honor one of the true greats in Steeler football history.” Other Steelers have been teaming up with PLB Sports as well. The company has sold nearly 200,000 bags of Big Ben’s Beef Jerky featuring World Championship Steeler quarterback Ben Roethlisberger since the product debuted at the end of last season. PLB also has worked with Hines Ward (steak sauce) and Tommy Maddox (cereal). PLB Sports, best known for its launch of Flutie Flakes cereal for football great Doug Flutie, also is known nationally for its David Ortiz’ “Big Papi” Salsa, Ed McCaffrey products, Kurt Warner cereal and other superior food products.
